Deepika Padukone

Controversy revolving around Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Padmavati’ seems to see no end. From the time the makers started shooting this film, the self-proclaimed saviours of Rajput history started protesting against the same. Apparently they are of an opinion that this film will tarnish the image of their beloved Rani Padmavati. A lot is being said and done about the controversy and now we have a Rajput royal named Heena Singh Judeo commenting on the controversy.

Heena Singh Judeo is the daughter-in-law of Dilip Singh Judeo of Chhattisgarh’s erstwhile royal family. She has commented on the songs being featured in this film and posed a question, as to how can a Queen dance in front of people. Two songs from the film have been released in which we see Deepika Padukone performing ghoomar.  She has quoted, “History has witnessed that none of the Rajput maharanis have ever danced in front of anyone, and they cannot play with history.”

Demanding that film should be showed to the Rajputs first, she asserted, “All the Rajput community organisations will unite and stand against it (the film). They always show Rajputana love story, they never show whatever they have done (sacrifices). And Sanjay Leela Bhansali always does this. We have also written a letter to the censor board and to everyone.”

Earlier, Rukshmani Kumari, who also hails from a royal Rajput family, had commented on the controversy and had stated that getting violent is no way of dealing with the situation. (Also Read: Padmavati: IFTDA writes to Maharashtra’s CM, seeking help for a smooth release of the film)
