Alia Bhatt Badrinath Ki Dulhania

Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan’s chemistry in ‘Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania’ was much loved. Bits of it started with the 2012 flick ‘Student Of The year’ and filmmakers soon understood this was a pair to be banked upon.

‘Badrinath Ki Dulhania’, their third film together, revolves around an interesting love story with its share of comedy and heartbreak. During an interaction with the press, Alia said her character in the film was a feminist.

“Kavya (her character in ‘Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania’) is younger, more naive, simpler character. She has one aim in life, to get married, in a lehenga. Whereas Vaidehi (in ‘Badri’) wants to fly, she doesn’t want to only get married. She is a strong, mature, ambition driven, more feminist kind of character,” she said. Alia, who garnered critical praise with her last two releases ‘Dear Zindagi’ and ‘Udta Punjab’, says she does not like to rehearse for scenes. “I am my most honest self if I don’t know what I am doing. So if I have forgotten what I have done in the take then that means I have gone with the natural flow, else it becomes mechanical,” she added.

Directed by Shashank Khaitan, the film hits the theatres on March 10, 2017.
