Another biopic for Shraddha Kapoor as she will essay the role of Saina Nehwal

It’s raining biopics in B-Town. For the past few years, Bollywood has opened up to the concept of helming biopics and many of them have actually worked wonders for the actors essaying the parts. Now, as Shraddha Kapoor is ready to essay the role of Haseena Parkar (sister of dreaded gangster Dawood Ibrahim), everyone’s been waiting to see how she manages considering it’s her first stint with a biopic and that too a controversial one. Now, even before the biopic could be out on the big screen, the announcement of another new biopic starring Shraddha Kapoor has been made. Yes, a biopic on the life of World No. 1 Badminton player Saina Nehwal has been announced and Shraddha has been roped in to play the titular role. The movie will be helmed by Amole Gupte and produced by Bhushan Kumar (T-Series). The movie will be titled as ‘Saina’. Shraddha took to Twitter and shared this news in a series of tweets.

Shraddha spoke about the biopic to a leading daily. She said, “Most girls would have played badminton at some point in their lives in school. I feel so lucky to be playing Saina, who is not just among the world’s top badminton players, but also a youth icon. I can’t wait to start prepping for my role.”

Saina Nehwal too was ecstatic as she said, “Whoa! That’s news to me… I was aware of the film, yes. But I didn’t know about this casting. It’s great if Shraddha is playing me, because she is a very talented actress and very hardworking! I am sure she will do justice to the role. The best part is, she is a good friend as well. So it will be easier to teach her some badminton (laughs). A lot of people tell me that we look similar and I think that’s a huge compliment, cos Shraddha is very beautiful.”
