Just few days back, a biopic on ace badminton player Saina Nehwal had been announced with actress Shraddha Kapoor playing the titular part. But, before any official announcement was made, it was being speculated that actress Deepika Padukone will be one to play the part. We all know that Deepika is Prakash Padukone’s daughter, who is a former Indian badminton player.
Deepika herself plays badminton quite often and was a State-level champion before venturing into modelling and films. Therefore, the chances of her being cast as Saina Nehwal wouldn’t have come as a surprise. But recently, the actress said that she has never been approached for any biopic. Talking about it to an agency, the actress has said, “I have never been approached for any biopic, to be honest. I do have a background in badminton, but I have never been approached for any biopic.” [sic]
Reports suggest that Deepika Padukone is also been considered for a biopic to be made on another badminton player, P. V. Sindhu. However, no official announcement regarding the lead actress has been made yet by actor Sonu Sood, who is producing the film.
Currently, the actress is busy with her next film ‘Padmavati’ where she is playing the titular role. She will be seen along with actors Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh, in this magnum opus, which is being directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali.
