Randeep Hooda’s advice to women subjected to sexual harassment at work is to be noted

Actor Randeep Hooda has voiced his opinions on various social issues without any fear. In fact, he had even landed himself in trouble for mocking JNU student Gurmehar Kaur in the past. The actor, who has been hosting MTV’s show ‘The Big F’ Season 2, has some pertinent topics every weekend in the episodes. Now, the latest episode of ‘The Big F’ is inspired from two real life incidents of TVF Founder Arunabh Kumar and ScoopWhoop co-founder Suparn Pandey harassing female employees. So, as his episode deals with the unspoken topic of women facing sexual harassment at the workplace, the actor opened up on the issue.

Speaking to a leading tabloid, the actor talks about how women facing harassment at their job should tackle the situation. He says, “It surprises me how in today’s day and age, women fall prey to sexual harassment at the work place. Being in a position of power does not give men the authority to prey on someone for their own pleasure. Ditto, the women. Women who feel violated should definitely stand up for themselves without worrying about the consequences of voicing their concern. Only a woman can help herself and men should be warned that now, with this being discussed openly, they can no longer get away with it.”

He further adds, “It’s a double-edged sword and can also be misused for a vindictive purpose, so clear guidelines should be put forth to everyone in the organisation about what constitutes objectionable behaviour at the work place and whom to contact if someone steps over the line. Your being right or wrong should not be based on gender and position. It varies from individual to individual and from case to case.”

And, finally, he concludes the conversation by saying, “If you don’t talk, it will only encourage the perpetrator. If someone is harassing you, bring it up with the management instead of feeling helpless and victimised.”

So, all you women out there, please take note of what he just said.
