Deepika Padukone declines to work in ‘83’ for this reason?

We know that the onscreen and off-screen chemistry of Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone is outstanding. After sharing the screen together in ‘Ram-Leela’, ‘Bajirao Mastani’ and ‘Padmaavat’, speculations have been rife that the newlywed couple can be seen in the Kabir Khan directorial ’83’.

’83’ is a biopic on Kapil Dev, the man who captained the Indian Cricket Team which clinched the first World Cup for India in the year 1983. However, there is news which might upset DeepVeer fans. Reportedly, Deepika has declined the offer as she has very little to do in the script.

Deccan Chronicle said that since ’83’ is essentially about Kapil Dev which is being played by Ranveer Singh. His wife has very little significance in the story and DP, being a huge brand, wouldn’t take up such a role.

“’83’ is a boys’ films. The focus is on Kapil Dev and his team bringing home the World Cup. Ranveer plays Kapil Dev. While Deepika playing his wife Romi sounds tempting, it’s just not true. Kapil Dev’s wife’s role will be very limited in this film and Deepika is a huge brand. She wouldn’t do any film just because her husband is in it,” the source informed the daily.

Meanwhile, taking to his Instagram handle, Ranveer shared a monochrome picture where he is seen on strike. Though his face is blurred, we can make it out that Ranveer is prepping for his role in ’83’. He captioned the picture with hashtags #kapildev and #balwindersinghsandhu and tagged the director of the movie Kabir Khan. Have a look at the picture below.

The duo got married in November last year in an intimate wedding setting followed by elaborate receptions in Mumbai and Bengaluru. On the work front, Deepika will soon begin shooting for her next movie titled ‘Chhapaak’.
