Deepika Padukone to play Ranveer Singh’s onscreen wife in Kapil Dev’s biopic? Find out here

As we know that the onscreen and off-screen chemistry of newly-wed couple Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone is outstanding. After sharing the screen together in ‘Ramleela’, ‘Bajirao Mastani’ and ‘Padmavat’, the duo can be seen in the Kabir Khan’s film based on the life of legendary cricketer Kapil Dev.

That’s right! Directed by Kabir Khan, the film is titled 83 and while Ranveer Singh will be playing the role of Kapil Dev in the film, it is being reported that Deepika Padukone will be playing the role of Romi Bhatia, wife of Kapil Dev in the film.

For the movie, Ranveer Singh has dropped his rapper look from Zoya Akhtar’s ‘Gully Boy‘. The actor will start shooting for the biopic on legendary cricketer Kapil Dev soon.

Deccan Chronicle quoting a source said, “Deepika’s role requires just seven days of shooting. The filmmakers believe the part where Romi Bhatia left the stadium mid-way assuming that West Indies will win the 1983 World Cup final, and the difficulties she encountered in coming back into the stadium when India was on the verge of winning, can be well emoted by Deepika.”

On Sunday, on the occasion of Kapil Dev’s birthday, the ‘Simmba’ actor shared a heartfelt birthday wish for the cricketer on Instagram. “Happy Birthday, Legend! #KapilDev @83thefilm @kabirkhankk,” he wrote.

It is to be noted that if Deepika Padukone plays the role of Kapil Dev’s on-screen wife in the biopic, it will be the couple’s fourth film together.
