Did Deepika lose a Hollywood film, thanks to ‘Padmavati’?

Deepika Padukone is presently busy working on Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Padmavati’. After ‘Ram Leela’ and ‘Bajirao Mastani’, this is the third time that she collaborates with the director. Fans know how much this combination works, and we eagerly await the film to release. However, if reports are to be believed, then the actress had to let go of a good role in a Hollywood film for ‘Padmavati’.

“She had to let go of the offer since the producers wanted to start filming this year and start workshops for the actors from August onwards. Since Deepika is still neck deep into ‘Padmavati’, she wouldn’t have been able to take out time and therefore gave it a pass,” a source told India.com. Is Deepika regretful? Reports say otherwise. Apparently, she is content with Bhansali and his direction, and always looks forward for films with him. On note of Hollywood, however, she made her debut down the West with Vin Diesel-starrer ‘xXx: Return of Xander Cage’. Dippy played a gorgeous huntress and was appreciated by critics and audience alike

‘Padmavati’ stars Shahid Kapoor, and Deepika’s rumoured beau Ranveer Singh. Interestingly, Deepika and Ranveer have not been paired romantically this time, unlike previous instances.

For those uninitiated, the film first went to Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. While Salman wanted the ‘Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam’ romance to be recreated once again, Aishwarya would do the film only if she had no scenes with Salman. Which meant, Salman would have to play antagonist Alauddin Khilji. Hence, it never worked out.

‘Padmavati’ tentatively releases in November, this year.
