Did Karan Johar give Ayushmann Khurrana a cold shoulder at the start of his career?

Karan Johar is a multi-faceted man, don’t you agree? The 46-year-old is a director, chat show host, radio jockey, actor, script writer, and the list is unending. The ‘My Name is Khan’ director is currently hosting the sixth season of ‘Koffee with Karan 6’. The next episode will feature two young and upcoming superstars in Ayushmann Khurrana and Vicky Kaushal.

Now, Ayushmann Khurrana revealed on the show that at the start of his career, Karan Johar tried to ignore him. Did it really happen? Well, Ayushmann Khurrana revealed on the show that Karan Johar had ignored him at the start of his career.

The ‘Vicky Donor’ actor remembered his first meeting with KJo at an awards show where he was hosting as an RJ. He shared that he had asked him for his number. Karan gave him a landline number and when Ayushmann tried calling him on that, someone told him that they don’t audition newcomers. That’s uncomfortable, isn’t it?

Ayushmann said, “I was like, ‘Can I have your number? I want to be an actor. You gave me a landline number. The next morning, when I called the number and asked to speak to Karan Johar, the person on the other line said, ‘We don’t audition outsiders and newcomers’ or something like that.”

Karan Johar, though in his defense said, “I gave you the right number. That was very sweet of me! I must’ve thought that you have potential”. Ayushmann laughed it off and expressed that all he wanted to do was reach KJO which was not possible.

Karan Johar then confronts Ayushmann and asked why he never spoke about it before. The ‘Andhadhun’ actor expressed that as an actor he had to be measured and circumspect in his approach. He said, “When I was an RJ, I could be myself completely and freely say whatever was on my mind.”

But, Karan and Ayushmann share a great bond now and Ayushmann had a bumper 2018 with films like ‘Andhadhun’ and ‘Badhaai Ho’ doing exceedingly well at the box office.
