Sanjay Leela Bhansali planning to make remake of ‘Baiju Bawra’?

It is the age of remakes and remixes, isn’t it? The Hindi film industry is currently battling a phase, where original ideas and storylines are not getting made on regular basis. Now, according to a report in PeepingMoon, Sanjay Leela Bhansali could be making a remake of ‘Baiju Bawra’.

According to the report, Sanjay Leela Bhansali is planning to remake Vijay Bhatt’s 1952 mega-hit ‘Baiju Bawra’ which remains a perennial musical milestone in Hindi cinema. Starring Bharat Bhushan and Meena Kumari, ‘Baiju Bawra’ had a 100-weeks run at the box office. This film remains one of the classics and is still being appreciated.

The original 1952 musical went on to become not only the second biggest grosser of the year but was also the eighth biggest hit of the1950s.

The ‘Padmaavat’ director has always had a soft corner for classics and is known for making larger than life dramas. Bhansali’s last film ‘Padmaavat’ got tangled into a lot of controversies and in the end did superb business at the box-office.

Making remakes is not an easy task and SLB being a thinking filmmaker he is will leave no stone unturned in preparation and research. The director takes his craft very seriously and that could be the reason for his superlative success.
