“Please we love jeans, don’t do this to them….it’s painful. No like naked jeans.” Ah, harsh words, we say! This is what Bipasha Basu had to say about the new type of jeans, which have exploded the internet but mostly got scathingly critical views. If you’re wondering what we’re talking about, you’ve got to check out these bizarre thong-like jeans.

The brainchild of Japanese designer Meiko Ban, these denim jeans were launched as a part of the Japanese brand Thibaut’s spring/summer collection. And guess what? It will reportedly be available for purchase from next year at a price of $425. Woah, that’s insane. Not surprisingly, these epic (pun intended) jeans or ‘jongs’ as the internet has named it, hasn’t really got a lot of appreciators. Our beloved jeans have been ripped apart mercilessly in this version with both front and back panels being taken off. They’re just left with a waistband and cuff, and a tiny, tattered strap of denim in the centre.
Actress Bipasha Basu came across this amusing item and begged fashion lovers to not do something like this to denims as it’s painful. She gave this trend a complete thumbs-down, just like many other people on the internet. Interestingly, even Malaika Arora reacted to the trend and put up a LOL emoticon in the comments section of Bipasha’s post. But what’s hilarious is the way Instagrammers described these jeans. We came across funny names like “ghar ka pocha” and “pure madness.” (Also Read: Vidya just experimented with her saree and it’s such a refreshing change!)
Well, we are all game for distressed or knee-slashed jeans, but this new trend literally shook up the fashion world with its gimmicky, modern take on the classic number. But what if we spot celebrities in the same jeans next year? Ouch! We are going to dread that day.
