Twelve years ago, Zoya Akhtar gave Indian cinema a road trip film of three friends exploring love, life and friendship. That film was Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara. It was a resounding success on its release and over time, became a cult classic. July 15, 2023 marks 12 years of Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara and to celebrate this feat, Farhan Akhtar shared a special collection of memories.
12 years of Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara
ZNMD featured Hrithik Roshan, Farhan Akhtar and Abhay Deol, along with Katrina Kaif and Kalki Koechlin. If nothing else, it gave boys goals for their bachelor trips as well as increased Spain tourism from India. To commemorate its 12 years, Farhan shared a special video with a sweet message for the film’s team.
The video features glimpses from some of the most memorable moments from the film. It includes the skydiving scenes, the La Tomatina festival and the scenic locations from the car rides through the film. Farhan reminisced some iconic moments with ‘buoys’ Hrithik and Abahy through this. A few days ago, he even shared a video of him going skydiving and missing his ‘buoys’ there.
Along with it, Farhan wrote, “On this special day, we raise a toast to 12 years of Zindagi Na Milegi Dobaara! Thank you to the remarkable cast and crew for gifting us a film that celebrated love, friendship, and the zest for life.”
Farhan Akhtar upcoming movies
Inspired by the road trip genre, Farhan had announced a film with 3 female leads, Alia Bhatt, Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Katrina Kaif, titled Jee Le Zaraa. The film’s announcement increased a lot of curiosity. Firstly it was the casting coup and secondly, the return of Farhan as a director. However, recent reports suggest that Priyanka has opted out of the film, and for now, it is on hold.
Meanwhile, Farhan is reportedly prepping to star in Aamir Khan’s remake of the Spanish film Campeones. Post that, he will reportedly get back to directing with Don 3, led by Ranveer Singh this time. As for ZNMD, its fans have been asking for a sequel for a long time. Will it happen or not, it remains to be seen. Still, ZNMD will always remain a special film in the history of Hindi cinema.
