Bollywood, as an industry has always felt that they are somehow soft targets. Whether it is about ticket prices, stalling a release or even banning a film, Hindi film industry invariably suffers through all of it. Now, in happy and cheerful news for the industry, union government headed by PM Narendra Modi has decided to reduce the Goods and Services Tax (GST) on cinema prices.
According to a report in Business Today, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley headed the 31st meeting of GST council. Cinema tickets up to Rs 100 which had a GST of 18 per cent has been brought down to 12 per cent.
The movie tickets which had a GST of 28 per cent has been brought down to 18 percent. Third party vehicle insurance has also been reduced to 12 per cent from 18 per cent.
This news was welcomed by the film industry and they took to Twitter to congratulate PM Modi and his govt for taking this step.

Heartfelt thank you to Honorable PM & the Govt of India for considering the request of the film industry for reduction in GST. If Indian cinema hopes to compete in the world market then we need the support of the Govt & Administration.
