Kiran Rao is returning to the director’s chair after 13 years with her latest film Laapataa Ladies. The upcoming comedy drama stars Atishay Jain Akhil, Ravi Kishan, Shivam Ghawariya among others. Laapataa Ladies is backed by Aamir Khan. Now, in a recent interview, Kiran Rao revealed Aamir wanted to play Ravi Kishan’s role (cop) in the upcoming film. Aamir had also auditioned for the part, however, it didn’t work out. Why, you ask? After reviewing Kishan’s audition, Kiran and Aamir decided that he was perfect for the role.
Aamir Khan auditioned for Ravi Kishan’s role in Laapataa Ladies
Speaking to The Week, Kiran said, “Aamir and I had a huge discussion on whether he should play Manohar’s character, which was played by Ravi Kishan. Aamir said, ‘I really love the character, I really want to play it’.” Kiran added that Aamir had auditioned for the role and he was ‘really good’.
Kiran went on to add, “I feel he (Kishan) brings a complete surprise to this character because you don’t know what to expect from him. When Aamir is in a role, he sort of sets expectations for his character. Aamir was very in on that decision that Ravi can do this better and perhaps, ‘I wouldn’t do full justice to it’.”
Laapataa Ladies will release on March 1.
On the other hand, Aamir last delivered a terrific performance in Advait Chandan’s Laal Singh Chaddha opposite Kareena Kapoor Khan. The actor next has Sitaare Zameen Par.
