Aamir Khan recalls his last meeting with art director Nitin Desai: He invited me for his daughter’s wedding

Art director Nitin Desai was found dead at his ND Studio in Kargat a few days ago. The last rites of the National-Award winning director were held on Friday. Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Sonali Kulkarni, Aamir Khan are among few who attended the funeral of the art director in Karjat. Aamir Khan, who is on an acting break, interacted with the reporters at the funeral of Nitin Desai. The Laal Singh Chaddha actor reacted to Nitin’s demise.

Aamir said, “This is very shocking news. I am unable to understand how did this happen. AndI can’t believe it. I wish he did not do this and reached out for help instead. But what can we say in such a tragic situation, it is very difficult to understand what has happened. It is very sad… we have lost someone who was very talented.”

Furthermore, Aamir was asked why only few people attended the art director’s funeral. Aamir stated that the art director worked with a lot of people in his career. He said, “Shayad kuch log nahi aa paaye hoge alag wajah se. I am sure sabke liye dil mein unke liye ek bahur hi khaas jagah hai. Unki family ko main dhairya rakhne ko kahuga (Maybe some people could not attend for some reason. I am sure he has a special place in everyone’s heart. I would offer my condolences to his family).”

Aamir recalls his last meeting with the art director

Aamir further went to reveal that he had met Nitin a few months ago when the art director invited him for his daughter’s wedding. He said, “I had last met him when he invited me for his daughter’s wedding, around eight months ago. I was shooting and he had come to invite me. We had sat and spoken for around an hour or two. We had not met for many days so we were catching up. His daughter got married in March and we met a couple of months ago before that. He was completely fine and I found him to be very happy. No one knew about the problems he was facing.”

Apart from Aamir Khan, Sonali, Sanjay Leel Bhansali, Madhur Bhandarkar, Subodh Bhave, and others attended Nitin Desai’s funeral.

For the uninitiated, Nitin left a suicide note and recording before taking his own life. He was found dead on Wednesday. As per reports, the art director had trouble paying Rs 252 crore loan which is why he committed suicide. A case has been registered, and police are looking into the matter.

The art director was known for designing the sets of films such as Lagaan, Devdas, Jodhaa Akbar, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, and Kaun Banega Crorepati.

He is now survived by his wife, son Siddhant and daughter Mansi.
