Aamir Khan’s son Junaid Khan starrer Maharaj, which marks his debut released on Netflix on 22nd June. The period drama, set in pre-independent India, is based on the Maharaj Libel Case of 1862. Ahead of it’s release, the film found itself in legal trouble as interim stay order was imposed on it by Gujarat court. As Maharaj is now out,it has received rave review and Junaid Khan is grateful for it.

An overwhelmed Junaid says, “I cannot explain in words what I’m feeling right now. Maharaj has been a long and wild journey for me, but all’s well that ends well I guess.” He adds, “Maharaj was made with a lot of love and respect and passion and I’m glad that the film and my performance is striking a chord with audience at large. I know I have miles to go and lots to improve upon. I just hope I get a cast and crew as supportive in all my future work.”
Earlier, ‘Maharaj’ director Siddharth P Malhotra shared a note when film released. Sharing the film’s poster, he wrote, “The labour of love would like to be celebrated and announced with elan. But when you choose to tell a story that must be told against all odds, then the battle will be uphill but hopefully worth the pain and obstacles as we as a team are super proud of the film ‘Maharaj’ that we have made (sic).”
About Maharaj
The historical drama, Maharaj, is based on one of the greatest legal battles in Indian history: the 1862 Maharaj Libel Case. It is directed by Sidharth P Malhotra and produced by YRF Entertainment. The film stars debutante Junaid Khan alongside Jaideep Ahlawat and Shalini Pandey in pivotal roles and features a special appearance by Sharvari.
On the work front, Junaid Khan has a rom-com with Khushi Kapoor. The flick has gone on floors and is a remake of Tamil movie. Apart from this he will be sharing screen space with Sai Pallavi.
