The trailer of Aamir Khan’s next production venture ‘Secret Superstar’ was recently unveiled by the makers. Featuring ‘Dangal’ actress Zaira Wasim in the lead role, the story is about a young girl who aspires to be a singing sensation. She has the talent and the fire in her to become a rockstar and conquer the world of music, but her wings are clipped by the conservative thoughts of her father who opines that music is not for her and he becomes a barrier in the path of her successful career in music.

But, she is not one of those who would give up easily. Zaira starts a YouTube channel of her own without revealing her identity and becomes an internet sensation overnight. Aamir Khan turns out to be her guiding angel in this situation. But what lies further is something that would be revealed once the film makes it to the theatres. Well, the trailer of ‘Secret Superstar’ vaguely reminds us of one of the episodes of show ‘Big F’, hosted by Randeep Hooda. One of the episodes, titled ‘Music and midnight conversations’, had a similar storyline. It was about a girl Ayesha who dreams to be a musician and has full potential to be one. But, her brother proves to be an obstacle. Orthodox by nature, her brother is of an opinion that music is only good when limited to hobby, but nothing more than that. She secretly embarks on the path to achieve her dream when an established musician named Gordon becomes her knight in the shinning armour. She secretly signs a music contract, but unfortunately her brother gets to know about her secret endeavours. She finally gathers some courage against her brother and fights for her passion.

The character of Zaira is vaguely similar to that of Aisha who fights for her dreams and achieves what she deserves. The storyline too is quite similar, and so are the hurdles in the path of protagonists. Rest would be known only once the movie gets released. We really hope it turns out to be different or that it is just a coincidence.

We, however, love the way showbiz is encouraging progressive thinking and we are sure ‘Secret Superstar’ will make a lasting impact on the audience from big and small towns alike.
