Shah Rukh Khan teamed up with Aanand L Rai for their ambitious project Zero that released in 2018. While the project was much-anticipated, it received a lukewarm response critically and commercially. However, the actor and filmmaker still take pride in the strides they took in the technological advancements for the Hindi film industry with Zero. And while their equation got stronger over the shoot of the film, the director recently revealed the one reason they fought over at that time.
Shah Rukh Khan and Aanand L Rai fought over money during Zero shoot
In a recent chat with Mashable India, Aanand recalled his work experience with SRK. While he was all praise for his former leading man, he revealed the hilarious reason they fought over: Money. Zero was a high-budget film as it required a lot of VFX work. It had SRK play a vertically challenged man and also had space shots. And that became a point of fun fights between the director and actor. Aanand said, “He is a king and I would think so much money… why?”
However, he did praise SRK’s dedication and insisted that their is no one else that could have done what he did. He said, “The making of that one film was like making five movies because we would have to take every shot five times. After Shah Rukh saw me for the first 3-4 days, he told me ‘You don’t stress about anything, I will do it.’ I would say, ‘Sir, you will get tired,'” Raving about SRK’s professionalism, Aanand added, “He can give the same shot the same way five times.”
Zero released in 2018 and along with SRK, it also featured Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif. While the film didn’t receive good response on release, over the years, people have praised its technical achievements. As for SRK, the actor returned to the big screen as a leading man last year after Zero, a gap of 4 years. And that return was nothing short of a dream. He gave 2 blockbusters with Pathaan and Jawan. Then, he closed the year with an impeccable performance in Dunki which also became a box office success.
