Ustad Rashid Khan, a musical maestro known for delivering some of the most iconic and remarkable songs has passed away unfortunately. Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri awardee Rashid Khan was undergoing treatment for prostate cancer at a hospital in Kolkata. The artist was in a critical condition and was kept on a ventilator support.
Ustad Rashid Khan passes away at the age of 55
The health condition of Aaoge Jab Tum singer Ustad Rashid Khan started deteriorating following a cerebral attack in the previous month. The announcement of his death was made by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. According to PTI, the artist was undergoing treatment. An official from the Kolkata-based private hospital said, “We tried our best but failed. He passed away at around 3:45 PM.”
The Chief Minister who paid a visit to the hospital said, “This is a great loss for the entire country and the entire music fraternity. I am in a lot of pain as I still can’t believe that Rashid Khan is no more.”
Agnimitra Paul, who is a member of the Legislative Assembly of West Bengal is sad and shocked by the sudden demise of the music maestro.
