Abhishek Bachchan says Ghoomer is an ‘ode’ to father Amitabh Bachchan

The trailer of Abshikek Bachchan starrer sports drama Ghoomer was unveiled by the makers on 4 August 2023. Directed by R Balki, the film also stars Saiyami Kher in pivotal roles. The trailer features Abhishek as coach who is hell-bent on defying all odds and train Saiyami, who plays a paraplegic women in the film. At the trailer launch event, Abhishek Bachchan shared his excitement on Ghoomer releasing in theatre and why the film is an ode to his father Amitabh Bachchan.

At the trailer launch event, Abhishek Bachchan revealed that his dad Abhishek Bachchan will have a cameo in the film. He spilled beans about Balki’s camaraderie with Sr. Bachchan and said, “Dad is Balki’s lucky charm and he will never make a film without him. This is our ode to my dad. Unfortunately, we don’t share screen space, but he has a cameo in this.”

Abhishek on Ghoomer releasing in theatres

In recent times, Abhishek’s several projects like Bob Biswas, The Bigg Bull, Dasvi and Ludo released on OTT. Elated about Ghoomer releasing in theatres, Abhishek averred, “Every actor, producer, and director believes that Friday will decide the future. Every film is a make or break for you and Ghoomer is the same. I am happy and proud of the film. I am happy that it’s releasing in theaters. Coming into a dark theater with samosa.”

Alongside Abhishek Bachchan and Saiyami Kher, Shabana Azmi and Angad Bedi will also be seen in key roles. The flick is all set for theatrical release on 18 August 2023. The film is also set to premiere at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne 2023 (IFFM).
