Abhishek Kapoor reveals why he went numb when he heard the news of Sushant Singh Rajput’s death

Abhishek Kapoor had worked with Sushant Singh Rajput in two films- Kai Po Che and Kedarnath. Both films are extremely special for the director after all one of them marked the Bollywood debut of Sushant. The director was devastated when he learnt of Sushant’s death on June 14 last year.

As Kai Po Che completed eight years last month, to mark the occasion the director has been sharing some behind the scenes clips from the film. Sharing one of those BTS clips, Abhishek recalled how he had broken down while writing as well as shooting the film’s climax scene where Ishaan (Sushant’s character) dies. The director also revealed the reason why he went numb when he heard the news of Sushant’s death last year.

Recalling his experience of shooting Kai Po Che’s climax and sharing why he felt numb, in one of his post, Abhishek wrote, “We were so charged about this story as we were writing it.i remember I cried when we wrote the climax, i cried when we shot it and i cried when i saw the edit.. i cried most when i saw it with the background score.. i saw ishaan die so many times and then again in kedarnath.. i guess thats why on 14 th june when we got the terrible news , i went numb…. like i still am..  #8yearsofkaipoche  #kaipoche @sushantsinghrajput  @theamitsadh  @rajkummar_rao  @anaygoswamy @castingchhabra @chetanbhagat (sic).”

The Kedarnath director shared a series of videos and anecdotes of shooting Kai Po Che. The film is based on Chetan Bhagat’s The 3 Mistakes of My Life. Sharing difficult it was adapt the book to a screenplay, Abhishek wrote, “Adapting the book to a screenplay wasn’t as simple as i thought. It took us 3 years to make the transition. #kaipoche # 8yearsofkaipoche @sushantsinghrajput  @theamitsadh  @rajkummar_rao  @chetanbhagat @anaygoswamy #supratiksen(sic).”

After the success of Kai Po Che, Abhishek and Sushant reunited for Kedarnath. Ironically, Sushant’s character dies in both Kai Po Che and Kedarnath.

Meanwhile, Sushant’s death case is still being investigated by CBI, NCB and ED. Recently NCB filed a chargesheet in special NDPS court. Rhea Chakraborty, Showik Chakraborty and others have been named in the chargesheet.
