Veteran actor Junior Mehmood who is very well known for appearing in movies like Haathi Mere Saathi, Caravan and Mera Naam Joker, passed away at his residence. The legendary actor was battling with stage four stomach cancer, and unfortunately, after his prolonged battle, Junior Mehmood died at the age of 67.
Junior Mehmood passes away at 67
The Haathi Mere Saathi actor was undergoing treatment at the Tata Memorial Hospital in Parel. As per report, the actor’s health was deteriorating and had to be kept on oxygen support. Sadly, he couldn’t survive. Junior Mehmood’s close friend Salam Kazi confirmed the actor’s death to ETimes. Speaking of the veteran actor’s funeral, it will be held at around 12 pm at the Juhu Muslim Cemetery in Santacruz West.
According to Times Of India, Salam Kazi had earlier said, “He was ill for 2 months and initially we thought that he might have some minor problem but after that suddenly his weight started decreasing. And when the medical reports came, it said that there was cancer in the liver and lungs and a tumor in the intestine and he also developed jaundice. So the treatment going on, but the doctors said it’s a stage four cancer.”
Junior Mehmood has worked in the Indian Cinema with a career spanning more than four decades. His real name is Naeem Sayyed and he was given the name Junior Mehmood by legendary actor Mehmood after the two starred together in the 1968 movie Suhagraat. Speaking of his memorable career, Junior Mehmood has worked in over 250 movies across seven languages. Some of his most famous and loved movies are Brahmachari, Kati Patang, Hare Raama Hare Krishna, Imaandaar, Baap Numbri Beta Das Numbri, Aaj Ka Arjun, Chhote Sarkaar, Judaai and many more.
