Renowned South Indian superstar, Chiranjeevi, was honoured with India’s prestigious Padma Vibhushan award, recognising his monumental contributions to Indian cinema. The ceremony, graced by President Droupadi Murmu, also celebrated five other distinguished recipients, including veteran actress and dancer Vyjayanthimala. Accompanied by his immediate family, including son and fellow superstar Ram Charan, daughter-in-law Upasana, and wife Surekha, Chiranjeevi’s presence illuminated the star-studded occasion. Alongside him, Vyjayanthimala, celebrated for her stellar performances in iconic films like ‘Devdas’ and ‘Gunga Jumna,’ was also bestowed with the Padma Vibhushan. Both the actors Chiranjeevi and Vyjayanthimala show gratefulness.

The grand event unfolded at Rashtrapati Bhavan in the capital city, where Chiranjeevi, adorned in a black Jodhpuri suit, exuded elegance and grace. He warmly greeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi before receiving the esteemed accolade from President Murmu.

Expressing her gratitude, Vyjayanthimala humbly acknowledged the recognition bestowed upon her art by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Government of India. She reflected on her illustrious journey, from receiving the Padma Shri in 1969 to now being honoured with the Padma Vibhushan, emphasising the significance of the prestigious award in her career.

In her words, “I have to thank my god for his compassion, kindness, and mercy. It’s our Prime Minister Narendra Modi Ji and the Government of India who have recognised my art- dance as well as films. I received the Padma Shri in 1969, and now Padma Vibhushan is a very big thing. I am happy and humbled to receive this award.”
