Saif Ali Khan has been caught up in legal trouble after a case has been filed against him for his comments on his next ‘Adipurush’ making Raavan humane. The actor had issued an official statement apologizing for his comments but it did not work out as comments have caused quite the stir.
An advocate from Uttar Pradesh has filed a case against Saif and ‘Adipurush’ director Om Raut for hurting religious sentiments. The plea is said to be heard in the court of Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate (ACJM) in the Jaunpur district of Uttar Pradesh according to a report by IANS. The assigned hearing date is December 23. The report further stated that civil court advocate Himanshi Srivastava said in his petition that he is a follower of Sanatan Dharma and he alleged that Saif’s interview has lead to negative portrayal of ‘faith in Sanatan Dharma’. He further added that witnesses Vinod Srivastava, Ajit Singh, Brijesh Nishad, Nilesh Nishad, Surya Prakash Singh and Vivek Tiwari saw the actor’s interview and it hurt their religious sentiments too.

Meanwhile, talking about Saif’s statement, he had said in an interview with Mumbai Mirror, “It’s interesting to play a demon king, less strictures in that. But we will make him humane, up the entertainment quotient, justify his abduction of Sita and the war with Ram as revenge for what was done to his sister Surpanakha by Lakshman, who cut off his nose.”
