Actor Aditya Roy Kapur gained utmost love and recognition after starring in Aashiqui 2 with Shraddha Kapoor. From the film’s songs to their sizzling chemistry, people loved the second instalment. Earlier, this year, director Anurag Basu announced doing Aashiqui 3 with Kartik Aaryan and some fans were elated with the news. As Aditya Roy Kapur was replaced by Kartik Aaryan, Karan Johar asked him to react to this new development on the new episode of Koffee With Karan 8.
While he praised Kartik for taking the baton forward, he also cracked a joke saying his character died in the previous film. He said that as his character died in the film, it would not make sense to see him in the third part.
Aditya Roy Kapur on getting replaced by Kartik Aaryan in Aashiqui 3
“I think he’s the perfect person to take the baton forward. There’s no chance I could be in this because, in the second part, my character went for a long swim from which he is not returning. I feel it is great,” Aditya said. He added, “Where will I come back now? My spirit will come back and he’s hovering over Kartik Aaryan.”
Directed by Anurag Basu, Kartik Aaryan will be headlining the third part of the franchise. Though the lead has been locked, the makers are yet to finalise the female lead of the film. As for the Aashiqui franchise, the first part was released in 1990 and starred Rahul Roy and Anu Aggarwal. The film was a huge success. Later, Aashiqui 2 was released in 2013 with Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor in the lead. It was again a big success and reinvented both the actors’ careers. Now, it remains to be seen who joins Kartik in Aashiqui 3.
