PVRINOX Pictures proudly presents Heretic, an intense psychological horror-thriller from A24 Films, directed by Scott Beck and Bryan Woods, the creators of A Quiet Place. Starring Hugh Grant as the enigmatic Mr Reed, alongside Sophie Thatcher and Chloe East as two missionaries caught in a deadly battle for survival, the film is set to release on Friday, 13th December. Promising to push the boundaries of psychological horror, Heretic is a must-watch for fans of the genre. Munjya director Aditya Sarpotdar attended the screening of the film in India. The director also mentioned Shah Rukh Khan as a lead for the film’s Indian version.
Aditya Sarpotdar about the film Heretic
Acclaimed Indian filmmaker Aditya Sarpotdar, known for his astute storytelling, recently attended a special screening of Heretic and was full of praise. Describing it as “a refreshing treat for horror enthusiasts,” Sarpotdar shared his joy at finally experiencing a “good horror film in the theatre after a long time.”
One standout feature for him was the unexpected casting of Hugh Grant in a genre far removed from his usual repertoire. “The USP of the film is Hugh Grant. He’s one of my favourite actors, and I’ve never seen him in this genre. He’s done romantic cinema all his life—he’s so sweet and endearing. To see him in this avatar is so great,” Sarpotdar said, highlighting Grant’s dynamic performance.
Munjya director thinks Shah Rukh Khan is the best choice for Heretic’s Bollywood version
Drawing a parallel to Indian cinema, Sarpotdar suggested Shah Rukh Khan as an ideal choice for a similar role in India. “There couldn’t be better casting than Shah Rukh Khan for a film like Heretic. Who better than him in India to do something like this?” he remarked.
The film follows Sister Barnes (Sophie Thatcher) and Sister Paxton (Chloe East), whose routine day turns into a nightmare when they knock on the wrong door. Facing a harrowing test of faith, they must battle their beliefs and Mr Reed in a chilling psychological struggle.
