After Akshay Kumar, his Atrangi Re director Aanand L Rai’s mother passes away; actor arrives for funeral

Bollywood filmmaker-producer Aanand L Rai’s mother has passed away on Wednesday morning. The ace director’s mother breathed her last on the same day as actor Akshay Kumar’s mom Aruna Bhatia. After Akshay Kumar’s mom, his upcoming film Atrangi Re director Aanand L Rai’s lost his mother in the early hours on September 8. According to a report in IWM Buzz, filmmaker Aanand L Rai and his brother Ravi Rai, who were deeply attached to their mother rushed to be by her side, after her demise. 

As per the report, the Tanu Weds Manu director’s close friend, Shailesh Singh was among the first to reach the Rai’s residence to offer condolences. 

Akshay Kumar was clicked on Wednesday as he arrived to pay his final respects to Aanand L Rai’s mom. A few pictures of the actor were clicked by the paparazzi.

Akshay Kumar and Aanand L Rai are collaborating in the film Atrangi Re. The film also stars Dhanush and Sara Ali Khan. The filmmaker-actor duo is also collaborating for the film Raksha Bandhan. It stars Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar. 

Earlier on September 8, Akshay Kumar made a post, mourning the death of his mother. Akshay’s note on Twitter read, “She was my core. And today I feel an unbearable pain at the very core of my existence. My maa Smt Aruna Bhatia peacefully left this world today morning and got reunited with my dad in the other world. I respect your prayers as I and my family go through this period. Om Shanti (sic)”

The Bell Bottom actor was clicked with his wife Twinkle Khanna and daughter Nitara at the last rites of his mom. Aruna Bhatia, Akshay’s mom was admitted to the ICU of a Mumbai hospital after her health took a turn for the worse. The actor had left his professional commitments and returned to Mumbai after his mother was admitted.
