An actor, a producer, lyricist, story writer, philanthropist and now a distributor with ‘Race 3’, there are hardy some things that Salman Khan hasn’t done. Soon, he is going to venture into something more. Salman is going to launch a chain of theatres, reportedly called Salman Talkies, and it isn’t going to be anywhere in the posh localities of Mumbai with exorbitant ticket prices.

The chain of theatres will be on the outskirts of Mumbai and the tickets will be tax-free. Not only that, the tickets will be free for children from underprivileged backgrounds! In an interview with Mumbai Mirror, the actor revealed, “Ticket rates should be brought down to Rs 200-250 for weekends and Rs 120-150 for weekdays, the way it is for regional films. With Hindi films the numbers are higher but we need the footfalls too,” he said.

Salman further reveals about the location of his theatres. He says, “I had a lot of plans for the theatre chain but it’s taking me longer because I need to be very careful. There are a lot of logistical details involved so that the project doesn’t shut down. But let me clarify, the theatres will not be in Bandra or Juhu, but on the outskirts of Mumbai.”

He adds, “There are so many things I want to do in the exhibitor and distributor space, and by turning distributor with ‘Race 3’, I have taken my first step in that direction. This chain adds another aspect to my portfolio.”  (Also Read: EXCLUSIVE: Salman Khan’s dance film with Remo D’Souza to go on floors post ‘Dabangg 3’)

Salman then shares the story about how he came on board as the distributor after things didn’t work out with Eros. “We were in talks with Eros for the longest time. Eventually, we reached a phase where the terms and conditions were not met, and the deal fell through. But something good came out of it. I am distributing ‘Race 3’ and will also distribute Aayush’s debut film (‘Loveratri’),” he said

According to the report, the chain is first going to be established in Maharashtra and over the next 10 years, the star hopes to expand it to other states too.

Salman’s upcoming film, ‘Race 3’ also stars Anil Kapoor, Jacqueline Fernandez, Bobby Deol, Daisy Shah, Saqib Saleem and Freddy Daruwala. Directed by Remo D’Souza, the film will release on June 15, 2018.
