Aamir Khan‘s ‘Dangal’ has opened at the box office with fantastic response from the audience and critics. Based on wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat and his daughters Geeta and Babita Phogat, the film is as motivating as it could get.
However, let us remind you about ‘Sultan’, the blockbuster starring Salman Khan which was a film on wrestling as well. Since the time people started talking about ‘Dangal’, we knew comparisons would soon crop up.
As much appreciated as it was, three-day business of ‘Dangal’ could not beat that of ‘Sultan’. ‘Sultan’ had minted Rs. 105.55 Crore after three days while ‘Dangal’ stands with an amount of Rs. 104.25 Crore.

Even though they both extensively dealt with wrestling, ‘Sultan’ had it share of romance and other commercial elements while ‘Dangal’ strictly remained focused to the achievements of the Phogat family.
However, Aamir Khan shouldn’t lose heart. ‘Dangal’ is the second highest grosser in terms of first weekend business, and has left films like ‘Bajrangi Bhaijan’, ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’, ‘Dhoom 3’ and more.
