Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 is set to face a significant box office showdown on November 1, coinciding with the release of Rohit Shetty’s Singham Again. When Kartik made his post-pandemic return to theatres with Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, the horror-comedy triumphed at the box office, earning over ₹185 crores, marking a positive turning point after the pandemic lockdowns. Since then, the Hindi film landscape has seen remarkable changes, highlighted by Shah Rukh Khan’s record-breaking successes and unexpected hits like Stree 2 and Animal. As excitement builds for Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, Kartik Aaryan maintains he’s feeling no pressure.
Kartik Aaryan talks on box office pressure
The Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor starrer Stree 2 shot to the top as the highest-grossing Hindi film of all time, while Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal crossed the ₹500 crore milestone last year. Both movies, not featuring Bollywood’s iconic Khans, have demonstrated that blockbuster numbers can still be achieved in their absence.
In a recent interview with Indianexpress, Kartik Aaryan was quizzed about whether the achievements of those films place pressure on him to deliver impressive results. He noted, “There is mathematics behind it. Like what is the team, what was their last film, what is their next, and who is the audience coming to see? Is it the biggest date of the year, are there many holidays in the run? There are several calculations, which you as well as the industry are looking at. When these things are well calculated, you don’t take the pressure of it.”
Kartik Aaryan on box office releases
Kartik pointed out that the dynamics of box office releases are not uniform for every actor. Reflecting on his career, he emphasized that success has never been handed to him on a silver platter. “In my journey, I’ve never had anything handed to me. I had to make the plate myself; no one came to me with a platter. No one got me a Rs 500 cr director when I started, I worked with all debut directors. So, I haven’t been that lucky, but I know from where my margin can rise. If I am still giving that number, I am content with that.”
He further expressed his gratitude for his journey, stating, “I am not comparing; I am not complaining. I am in a good space. It’s because nobody knew me when I came to the city. And now, I am recognized in every corner of the country. That’s something to be grateful about.” Directed by Anees Bazmee, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 also stars Vidya Balan and Madhuri Dixit. It will be released on November 1. This will set the stage for a thrilling box office battle with Singham Again.
