Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Mani Ratnam flash warm smiles as Ponniyin Selvan 1 receives positive response

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan starrer Ponniyin Selvan 1 released on September 30. The film has garnered positive reviews from the audiences. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, who plays the role of Queen Nandini in Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan 1, shared a bunch of photos of herself posing with Mani on Instagram. The actress captioned the post with a star, heart and nazar amulet emoji. Fans showered love on the duo.

Reacting to the photos, one of her fans wrote, “The greatest director-actor pair.” Another one commented, “Awwww… congratulation Queen… Ponniyin Selvan is blockbuster hit. And you are getting only good review for your performance.” “Congratulations to entire Team of #ps1 Take a bow!!!! Feeling like a VICTORY #PROUD,” wrote a fan.

Earlier, at an event, Aishwarya had opened up about working with Mani Ratnam. The actress said, “Working with Mani sir, he is my guru. I worked on my first film with him. I am blessed to get an opportunity to start my journey as an actor working with him. The perfect school, the perfect guru, because experience is the best teacher. A lot of work ethic, it all stars in the beginning. What better than to have begun my approach to my craft than with Mani sir. I am very very blessed that I got the opportunity with Thiruvar, then again in Guru, in Ravan and now in Ponniyin Selvan.”

Apart from Aishwarya, the epic period drama also stars Trisha Krishnan, Sobhita Dhulipala, Vikram, Karthik and Jayam Ravi. For the uninitiated, the film is based on Kalki Krishnamurthy’s 1955 novel.
