Aishwarya Rai Bachchan served legal notice for Sarabjit Singh biopic

A proposed movie on Sarabjit Singh, by Omung Kumar starring Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as Dalbir Kaur:Sarabjit Singh’s sister has generated controversy much before it goes on floor. Baljinder Kaur a woman claiming to be Sarabjit’s real sister has sent a legal notice to the director Omung Kumar and the lead actor Aishwarya Rai Bachchan asking them not to misrepresent facts about Sarabjit’s life.

Sarabjit Singh was an Indian prisoner who spent more than two decades in a Pakistan prison before being murdered by a fellow inmate. His sister Dalbir Kaur had been spear heading a campaign for his release from Pakistan prison and she was the only sister who used to talk to the media and officials on his behalf. Now another woman Baljinder Kaur has stepped in claiming to be his real sister. She has threatened to move court.

Baljinder Kaur, claims that she is Sarabjit’s real sister not Dalbir Kaur, said, “I am not against a movie on the life of my brother, he died for this country. All I want is that his real story be shown to people and not what is being portrayed.I have attached a copy of my family tree along with the notice. I also want my DNA test to be conducted and matched with Sarabjit’s daughters.”

Baljinder further added that, “My brother was an agent of Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), external intelligence wing of the defence forces. Why belittle his sacrifice by portraying him as an alcoholic, who crossed the border under the influence of liquor. It is not correct, I wouldn’t let anyone blemish my brother’s name and wouldn’t even mind going to Mumbai to explain the truth.”

When contacted, Dalbir Kaur said the world knows who has done what for Sarabjit. But she refused to answer any questions on Baljinder.
