Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s ‘Jazbaa’ for Pakistan

Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is making a comeback with Sanjay Gupta’s upcoming film ‘Jazbaa’. The film is an action thriller that also stars Irrfan Khan and Shabana Azmi in pivotal roles. The breaking news on the movie front is that it is getting a biggest release in Pakistan.

The best is that it has not faced any resistance by the Pakistani authorities, which some of the other films had received earlier this year. Salman Khan’s ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ too had initially faced resistance but Aishhwarya ‘s film has been welcomed by the neighbouring country.

Sources said, “In fact, the release is turning out to be a really planned one in Pakistan. From day one, the makers of Jazbaa (Zee Studios) were clear that Pakistan was a territory they had to explore. It doesn’t have anything to warrant any kind of argument, resistance or protest against it. It is a dramatic thriller and there is no controversial content whatsoever in there, that would have been influenced by the political relationship between the two countries. It is a pure and simple business decision for distributors in Pakistan and producers in India. Period.”

Sources added, “Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has a huge fan following in Pakistan and with Jazbaa bringing her back in action, it was quite rudimentary to have her arrival announced in style. As for Irrfan, he is a global star today. When other countries are accepting him with open arms, there was no reason why Pakistan won’t do the same.”

Pakistan’s largest media conglomerates Jang Group, has acquired the film. As the film is being released in an Arabic version the demand for the movie in the Middle East too is huge.
