It’s just three days to the release of Ajay Devgn, Sidharth Malhotra and Rakul Preet Singh-starrer Thank God, and it seems like some big changes are on its way for the film. According to latest reports, as per sources, the makers have decided to change the name of Ajay’s character in the film from Chitragupt to CG, and along with it, the character who plays his associate Yamdoot has also been renamed to YD. And both these changes, along with some few more were done by the makers while submitting the film for certification.

While there has been no official confirmation on the reason behind the changes, the film had got some flak after the teaser’s release because of the representation of the diety played by Ajay Devgn in it. Some people were not happy with Ajay’s character being shown dressed in a suit and in such a modern way. In Hindu mythology, Chitragupta is the deity of records and accounts, and while the makers have kept that part the same, they had given it a modern and relatable look. But now, they have instead maybe decided to choose a safer route.

There is a pending plea in Supreme Court asking for a stay on the release of Thank God owing to similar reasons, however the court has refused to hear it on an urgent basis and its hearing will now happen on November 21.

As for the other changes made by the makers, one is the blurring of the name of a liquor brand in the frame. The other one is changing the angle of shot for a temple scene while for the last change, the makers have increased the duration of the disclaimer on screen before the start of the movie so that the audience gets ample time to read it. Thank God will be hitting the theatres this Diwali on October 25.
