Total Dhamaal’ released today. Unfortunately, before the comedy flick could hit screens, it got embroiled in several controversies and made headlines for the wrong reasons. The controversies began after the yesteryear classic ‘Mungda’ starring Sonakshi Sinha and Ajay Devgn from the film released and started facing criticism from the makers of the original version. Composer Rajesh Roshan was the first to show his displeasure and then Usha Mangeshkar and Lata Mangeshkar reacted strongly to the song, saying this is a result of “lack of originality” in Bollywood. And now, Ajay Devgn has broken his silence on the ‘Mungda’ controversy.

In an interview with Bombay Times, Ajay Devgn said that Lata Mangeshkar is a senior artist and has all the rights to give her opinion. The actor also mentioned that the legendary singer can even shout at them and even slap them.

He said, “Lataji is very senior. I think a lot of people recreate songs and they don’t think like this. So, if she has gotten upset about it, she can come and slap us also. She has got all the rights to do so. I mean, it’s a fact, she can shout at us also. We’re ready to apologise if she has felt bad about something.”

It is to be noted that the original song was sung by Usha Mangeshkar and composed by Rajesh Roshan. It belonged to the movie Inkar (1978) and featured Helen.
