The Central Board of Film Certification has been in news more than often, thanks to its tiffs with filmmakers, especially the ones with bold storylines or bold treatment to stories. While a number of filmmakers and producers have already expressed their displeasure over how the board is functioning with an utterly regressive outlook, Ajay Devgn finds no problems in their operation,
Devgn, whose ‘Baadshaho’ is set to hit the theatre on 1st September, was present at the film’s trailer launch. When asked by the reporters, he said people needed to communicate and rationalise with CBFC.
“I really don’t know… The films that I produced and submitted to the censor board, I didn’t face any issue. I don’t think what’s the problem. I actually don’t think there’s any problem. I feel if you rationalise with them (CBFC) everything can be understood. At least that’s my experience,” he said. (Also Read: This is how Kajol often lands Ajay Devgn in trouble)
There were rumours that the makers have trimmed a number of intimate scenes between Ajay and co-actress Ileana D’Cruz, even before sending the film for certification. At the event, the actor even dismissed that.
Of late, debate pertaining to CBFC’s fairness reached its peak after it refused to certify Alankrita Shrivastava’s ‘Lipstick Under My Burkha’, calling it ‘lady-oriented’ along with other names and stating that the film largely dealt with women’s fantasies. Soon after that, it demanded 48 cuts for Nawazuddin Siddiqui-starrer ‘Babumoshai Bandookbaaz’ despite granting it an ‘A’ certificate. Recently, usage of the word ‘intercourse’ in the mini trail of Shah Rukh Khan and Anushka Sharma’s ‘Jab Harry Met Sejal’ was also objected to by them. And for those who remember, Shahid Kapoor’s ‘Udta Punjab’ was grounded due to usage of abusive words and as it revolved around the sensitive issue of drug abuse in a particular state.
Is Ajay trying not to get into a clash with CBFC? We wonder!
