Ajay Devgn has paid for oxygen cylinders and ventilators for the newly-built 200-bed quarantine facility for coronavirus patients. Also known as Asia’s largest slum, Dharavi has witnessed many coronavirus cases and authorities are trying their level best to curb the spread of the deadly virus.

Kiran Dighavkar, the assistant municipal commissioner of G-North, told Mumbai Mirror that Ajay has paid for the equipment. He said, “We told him we needed oxygen cylinders for all 200 beds and two portable ventilators. He readily agreed to pay for them.”

The contribution was made through the actor’s foundation i.e Ajay Devgn Films Foundation. BMC official said that the actor had earlier provided ration kits for 700 families in Dharavi. On May 27, Ajay urged for donations through his tweet that read: “Dharavi is at the epicentre of the Covid19 outbreak.Many citizens supported by MCGM are working tirelessly on ground through NGOs to provide the needy with ration & hygiene kits. We at ADFF are helping 700 families.I urge you to also donate.”

Maharashtra has the highest number of cases in the entire country. Lockdown is extended till June 30 in the state in the containment zones while there are some relaxations in some of the areas. Also, the government has permitted to resume the shoots of films, TV serials, OTT, advertisements, etc in non-containment zones.

Bollywood celebs have come forward to help the government fight Covid-19. Celebs like Salman Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Akshay Kumar among others have donated to the Covid-19 relief funds. Sonu Sood is currently doing his best to fight the crisis.
