Ajay Devgn and Rohit Shetty start Singham Again shoot with ‘Simmba’ Ranveer Singh, ‘Sooryavanshi’ Akshay Kumar can’t wait to join

It was 12 years ago that Rohit Shetty gave one of its kind cop universe to Hindi films by introducing Ajay Devgn as Singham. The universe grew with the film getting a sequel, and then addition of two new cops. First came Ranveer Singh as Simmba and then Akshay Kumar as Sooryavanshi. Now, the cop universe is set for its fifth film, Singham Again and the team has begun its shoot.

The team of Singham Again marked the beginning of Singham Again shoot with a pooja on Saturday. Rohit Shetty shared pictures from the ceremony with Ajay and Ranveer. Along with it, the filmmaker wrote, “Singham, Singham returns, Simmba, Sooryavanshi… 12 Years ago, when we made Singham, we never thought that it would turn into a Cop Universe! Today, we begin filming Singham Again… the 5th film in our cop franchisee. ISME HUM APNI JAAN LAGA DENGE! BAS AAPKE PYAAR AUR DUA KI ZAROORAT HAI!”

Ajay resonated the sentiment as he said, “12 years ago, we gave Indian Cinema its biggest cinematic Cop Universe. With all the love we have received over the years, the force got stronger and the Singham family got bigger. Today we come together to take our franchise ahead with Singham Again!“

Ranveer also expressed his excitement of returning as Simmba. He wrote, “शुभारंभ ! All set to reprise one of my most loved characters from the Rohit Shetty Cop Universe – SIMMBA in #SinghamAgain ! We seek your love and blessings for our new journey.”

While Akshay Kumar wasn’t present physically, he insisted that he was there in spirit. He also confirmed his return as Sooryavanshi in Singham Again. He wrote, “Not in the country at the moment, missing from the frame in person but totally there in spirit. Can’t wait to join you guys on the sets of #SinghamAgain! Sending my best wishes. Jai Mahakaal.”

Singham Again details

Singham Again marks the fifth film in the Rohit Shetty cop universe and third standalone Singham film. It will also mark the entry of the universe’s first female cop with Deepika Padukone. Recent reports have suggested that Arjun Kapoor might be playing a villain in the film. Singham Again has a release date of Independence Day 2024. If it follows that, it will clash with Allu Arjun starrer Pushpa 2.
