Ajay Devgn’s period drama ‘Taanaji’ goes on floors

Ajay Devgn’s anticipated film ‘Taanaji’ has created a lot of buzz, since the makers of the film have unveiled the first look poster of the film. Now, Ajay Devgn has good news for his fans!

Bollywood’s ‘Singham‘ has begun shooting for his high octane film ‘Taanaji’ on Tuesday morning i.e 25th September 2018. Ajay Devgn will be playing the role of the unsung warrior Subedar Taanaji Malusare, who had fought alongside Chatrapathi Shivaji Maharaj.

Ajay Devgn took to his Instagram account to share the good news of shoot beginning. In the picture, director Om Raut and Ajay Devgn are doing the Mahurat pooja for their film. He captioned it saying, ‘Taanaji Shoot Begins.’

Ajay Devgn and director Om Raut at the Taanaji Mahurat! TAANAJI SHOOT BEGINS

As per reports, it is being said that Saif Ali Khan will be playing the role Udaybhan Rathod, the Rajput officer and fort keeper appointed by Jai Singh, chief of the Mughal army under Aurangzeb. The Om Raut directorial recounts the Battle of Sinhagad in 1670, which was fought between Tanaji Malusare, a commander in Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s army, and Udaybhan. The former sacrificed his life to recapture Sinhagad Fort from the Mughals.

Devgn had unveiled the first poster of the film ‘Taanaji’ last year. Along with the poster, he wrote, “He fought for his People, his Soil & his King Chhatrapati Shivaji. The unsung warrior of glorious Indian history, Subedar Taanaji Malusare.”

‘Taanaji’ is slated to release to in 2019 under the banner of T-series.
