Ajay Devgn starrer historical action film, ‘Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior’ has been declared as the biggest hit of the last two years. The 2020 film was directed by Om Raut, making his directorial debut in Bollywood and produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar and Ajay Devgn under T-Series Films and Ajay Devgn FFilms. It also starred Saif Ali Khan and Kajol in the lead roles.
According to the latest reports, Tanhaji has become the biggest hit of the last two years with numbers closing at Rs 280 crore in the domestic market and it grossed Rs 3.67 billion ($49 million) worldwide. It has been declared as the highest-grossing Bollywood film of 2020.

In 2020, ‘Tanhaji’ has left many other hits like 3 Idiots and other Rs 300-crore blockbusters like Sanju, Dangal, Tiger Zinda Hai, among others behind in fifth-week collections. The film was selected as one of the Best Foreign Film to be screened at the 78th Golden Globe Awards which took place on 28 February 2021.
Meanwhile, talking about how the film ruled the box office, Devgn told IANS, “Tanhaji was special because it stayed true to the patriotic spirit, it had superb dialogue, it had awesome performances from Kajol and Saif Ali Khan. And I put in my sincere efforts.” The film also received positive reviews, who appreciated performances of Devgn and Saif Ali Khan. It also features Neha Sharma, Sharad Kelkar and Luke Kenny in supporting roles. It was released in India in 3D on 10 January 2020.
The movie is set in the 17th century, and it revolves around Tanaji’s challenges to evoke the Kondhana fortress once it passes on to Mughal emperor Aurangzeb who handovers its control to his reliable Rajput guard Udaybhan Singh Rathore.
