About 7 years ago, Ajay Devgn came out with one of the most spine-chilling mystery thrillers in Hindi cinema, Drishyam, which was a remake of a Malayalam film by the same name. The film became a huge success and a cult classic over the years. It also gave new meaning to the date October 2, with people referring to it as the day the Salgaonkar family went to Panaji for a satsang and ate pav bhaji. The sequel to the film has been in the works for quite a while, and now the shoot for it has been wrapped up.

Drishyam 2 is based on the sequel of the Malayalam original that was released last year amidst a roaring response both critically and commercially. The Malayalam franchise sees Mohanlal in the lead and Ajay steps into his shoes in the Hindi series. Drishyam is a thriller that tells the story of a cable operator in Goa named Vijay Salgaonkar whose life revolves around his family and cinema. How his family get caught up in a murder investigation after the son of a high-profile police officer goes missing formed for a chilling story.
While the first Hindi remake was helmed by the late National-Award winning director Nishikant Kamat, the sequel is directed by Abhishek Pathak, who is also producing the film alongside Bhushan Kumar, Kumar Mangat Pathak and Krishan Kumar. Drishyam 2 is slated for a theatrical release on November 18, 2022.
