Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar are currently busy promoting their upcoming flick ‘Toilet – Ek Prem Katha’ which is slated to hit the screens on August 11, 2017. The actors were today in Lucknow, to promote the film, and met the CM of the Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath.
Akshay and Bhumi, both extended their support to his cleanliness drive, and even swept a school in Lucknow. Akshay also tweeted, “Honored to be part of Hon. Chief Minister of U.P. @myogiadityanath cleanliness drive in Lucknow today ??” [sic]
Well, Akshay and Bhumi’s visit to the state has benefited their film. Reportedly, CM Yogi Adityanath has announced tax-free status for ‘Toilet – Ek Pram Katha’ in UP. Talking about ‘TEPK’, Akshay had stated in an interview, “My movie is two and half hours of comedy, it is comedy. It is not a documentary, I’m not preaching you with this movie. It’s a complete entertainer, it’s only towards the end that the movie starts getting a bit serious and that’s it. Toilet humour is also in a different way and there is a real story connected here.”
Akshay also revealed that the movie was first offered to other actors. He said, “The writers brought the subject to me. I find it surprising that this script had been doing the rounds of the industry for over four years. It went to a lot of heroes, a lot of people but nobody picked it up. I liked it and I asked Neeraj Pandey with folded hands to give it to me. Earlier, the film was named ‘Sandaas Ek Prem Katha’ but later the title got changed.”
‘Eat Sleep Bollywood Repeat’ is his life Mantra. Dance is his first love and Rani Mukerji is his eternal crush. He is someone who loves being himself, and as for the ones who don’t agree, his reply? “Talk to my hand!”
