Akshay Kumar breaks down in tears as he remembers mother’s advice amid back to back flops

Akshay Kumar is going through a lean phase in his career with some back to back flops. The Khiladi Kumar’s recent outing Selfiee has also been unable to capture the attention of fans as yet. Amid this dry run at the box office the actor was told during an interview that none of his movie worked post his mother’s demise.

It is no secret that Akshay Kumar was quite close to his mother Aruna Bhatia. She passed away on September 8, 2021. Recently in an interview the superstar opened up on the dry phase of his career and how his mothers demise left him shaken up. He also broke down remembering her.

In a promo for AajTak’s chat show Seedhi Baat, the show’s host told Akshay Kumar that none of his films worked post his mother Aruna Bhatia’s demise. To which the actor teared up, and asked the host to ‘chal, aage chal (move on)’.

Akshay recalls Mother’s advice amid flops

But the host further asked the Sooryavanshi actor what advice would his mother have had given him if she had been alive amid his dry spell. To which Akshay Kumar recalled his mother’s famous line and said, “Unki ek badi famous line hai, ‘Fikr nahi kar puttar, babaji tere naal hai’ (She had a famous line, ‘Don’t worry son, God is with you’).”

He further added, “This is not happening with me for the first time. In my career, I have had 16 consecutive flops at a time. There was a time when I had eight films in a row that did not work. Now, I have had three-four films in a row that did not work. A film not working happens due to your own fault. The audience has changed, you need to change, you need to dismantle yourself. You have to start again because the audiences require to see something else.”

“When your films flop in a row, it is an alarm for you that it is time for you to change. I am trying to change, that is all I can do. (But) do not blame the audience or anyone else. It is my fault, 100%. Aapki film na chalna is not because of audience. It is because of what you selected. Maybe you have not given the right ingredients in the film,” he added

Akshay Kumar has had four back-to-back flops in 2022 — Samrat Prithviraj, Ram Setu, Raksha Bandhan and Bachchhan Paandey. He is currently seen in Selfiee co-starring Emraan Hashmi. The actor also has OMG 2, Hera Pheri 3 and more in his kitty.
