Akshay Kumar calls Raksha Bandhan his ‘sabse behtareen film’ despite being a box office failure

Actors Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar starrer Raksha Bandhan which is about the special bond between a brother and sister tanked at the box office. The movie was not well received by movie buffs as it failed to mint money at the box office. On Saturday, Akshay took to his Instagram account and dropped a promo of Raksha Bandhan movie ahead of its world television premiere. 

Sharing the promo, Akshay revealed that even though it was a box office failure, he wholeheartedly calls the movie his finest movie so far. Apart from that, he also requested people to watch the movie if possible at 8 PM on the TV channel. Khiladi Kumar wrote, “Mein jaanta hoon ki meri yeh film Box Office pe nahi chali. Phir bhi dil se keh raha hoon ki yeh meri zindagi ki sabse behtareen film hai. #Rakshabandhan aaj 8 baje @zeecinema pe aa rahi hai. Ho sake toh zaroor dekhiye.”

Recently, in an interview with The Outlook, the Ram Setu actor spoke about what appealed to him the most about the movie. Kumar said, “Raksha Bandhan’s simplicity is its finest feature. I don’t typically weep when watching a movie, but this one really got under my skin. It also made me realise how quickly we’ve all been moving and how little time we’ve been giving to our relationships. It’s been a long time since anyone attempted to make a film about siblings or the bond between family so beautifully. The feelings are very genuine. The sobbing is genuine. The plot is authentic. The dowry system and everything else that occurs in the movie are so real. I believe that a lot of people will identify with the movie, and I am really honoured and thrilled to be a part of it.”

Directed by Aanand L Rai, Raksha Bandhan also stars Sadia Khateeb, Sahejmeen Kaur, Deepika Khanna, and Smrithi Srikanth.
