Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar will apparently be following Aamir Khan’s path, as he is likely to adopt a village in the Yavatmal district of Maharashtra soon.
According to reports, it was yesterday that Collector Sachindra Pratap Singh signed a proposal made by the Chetana Abhiyan Project director and Resident District Collector, (RDC) Rajesh Khawle in response to the instruction they got from the Maharashtra government.
According to Sachindra, Akshay had a brief meeting with the state Finance Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar in Mumbai recently, where the minister explained to him about the woes of farmers in Vidarbha, particularly in Yavatmal. Akshay then took a step forward and decided to adopt one of the villages hit hard by farmers’ suicide.

The government had asked the district administration to suggest a village with the maximum number of farmers’ suicide. And accordingly, Khawle proposed the name of village Pimpri Butti. Singh has now cleared the concerned file which will soon be submitted to the state government for further action.
It was also last year in March that Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis had visited Pimpri Butti village and stayed there overnight. He had also assured all possible help from the government to decrease the ongoing spate in farmers’ suicide in the rural areas of the district.
Aamir Khan is already one of the actors to adopt a village hit by farmer suicide.
