Indian shooter Avani Lekhara became the first woman to win a Gold medal at the ongoing Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games. The gold medallist topped the podium in the women’s 10m Air Rifle Standing (SH1) event at the Paralympics on Monday. Proud of the achievements of the 19-year-old shooter, celebrities took to their respective social media handles to wish her. Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, and others sent congratulatory messages to the young champion.
Taking to Twitter, Akshay Kumar made a tweet. He wrote, “Congratulations #AvaniLekhara for hitting the bullseye and creating history by becoming the first Indian woman to win a #Paralympics gold medal What a debut! #Tokyo2020.”

Abhishek Bachchan and Kareena Kapoor Khan took to their Instagram stories and congratulated Avani. Jr Bachchan shared a picture of the young star. And he wrote, “A gold-en moment for India! Hats off to @avani.lekhara on becoming the first Indian woman to win gold at #TokyoParalympics2021.(sic).” The actor added the hashtags ‘Paralympics’ and ‘ShootingParaSport’ in the post too.
Kareena shared a picture of Avani and congratulated her. She added a gold medal gif to her post. Actress Kangana Ranaut clapped for Avani and her achievement. The Queen star shared a picture of Lekhara. And she wrote, “Kya kahein Avani saare dash ka sir uncha kar diya wah!!! (sic)” Actors Ananya Panday, and Taapsee Pannu also congratulated Avani for her accomplishment.
Meanwhile, at the ongoing Paralympic Games, India has so far won six medals. Bhavinaben Patel won the first medal for India in Table Tennis. She bagged a silver medal. Nishad Kumar, Yogesh Kathuniya, Devendra Jhajharia won silver medals. Sundar Singh Gurjar won bronze for the country.
