Akshay Kumar is one of the busiest actors in Bollywood with no less than 4 releases each year. Unfortunately, the actor – who has already had two releases in 2024 – Ali Abbas Zafar’s sci-fi action film Bade Miyan Chote Miyan and Sudha Kongara’s biographical drama film, Sarfira, is yet to see a box office success this year. Kumar – who has had a series of flops, recently revealed he has become ‘more mindful’ of the roles he chooses. Read on to know all he had to say.
Akshay Kumar on choosing ‘mindful’ projects now
During a recent interaction with Forbes India, Akshay Kumar got candid about being mindful of the projects he’s associated with hereon. The actor said, “The pandemic has undoubtedly changed the dynamics of the film industry. With audiences being more selective about their cinema outings, it has become crucial to choose projects that offer something completely entertaining and unique.”
The ‘Sarfira’ actor continued, “I’ve become more mindful of the content, ensuring that it resonates with the current times and provides an experience that justifies a trip to the theatre. It’s about finding stories that not only entertain but also connect deeply with the audience.”

Talking about what keeps him motivated even after decades of work in the industry, the ‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan’ actor said, “My biggest strength has been my discipline and work ethic. I literally work on a timetable… I sleep, eat and work at a particular time, and shoot for a specific number of hours. I’ve followed this for years. Staying fit—both mentally and physically—has also played a crucial role in my longevity in the industry. The motivation comes from a genuine love for what I do and to continue making films on which so many livelihoods depend. Also, the support and love from my fans fuel my passion and commitment to this journey.”

Akshay Kumar has a packed 2024 and 2025. The actor – who has already had two releases in 2024 (Bade Miyan Chote Miyan and Sarfira), will soon feature in Khel Khel Mein, Stree 2, Sky Force and Singham Again. In 2025, the actor will star in the Telugu film – Kannappa, Jolly LLB 3, Welcome To The Jungle, Shankara, Hera Pheri 3 and the Marathi period drama – Vedat Marathe Veer Daudle Saat. The actor’s Rowdy Rathore 2 is likely to be released in 2026.
