Due to the outbreak of the Coronavirus the entire world has come to a standstill, it has shaken the world economy to the core. Millions of people are jobless due to the shutting down of most industries. Even in showbiz people have had to deal with an immense amount of loss. The A-League star films, backed by big banners are bearing with a delay while the small budget films are resorting to the digital platforms.
Akshay Kumar’s action cop drama ‘Sooryavanshi’, directed by Rohit Shetty also featuring Katrina Kaif in the lead role, was supposed to release on March 27, is now put on hold and will wait for things to return to normalcy. An array of films are now being pitched to OTT platforms by the makers of the films. Amidst all the prompt business deals, the big multiplex chains like PVR, INOX, Carnival Cinemas etc have been the hardest hit, and are requesting producers to restrain digital releases of films in order to curb down their revenue losses.

The makers of Akshay’s ‘Laxmmi Bomb’ have zeroed in on releasing the film on Hotstar. Earlier ‘Laxmmi Bomb’ was supposed to clash with superstar Salman Khan’s coveted Eid release ‘Radhe’. Both Akshay and Salman were unfazed by the clash ever since the announcement was made and wished well for each other. The ‘Good News’ actor will be seen portraying the role of a transgender woman in ‘Laxmmi Bomb’, the film also has Kiara Advani in a pivotal role. The film was made around a budget of Rs 60-65 crores excluding Kumar’s fee! Since the film is not getting a theatrical release it is difficult to garner a profitable return on investment. The estimated collection of the film was predicted to be around Rs 200 crores.
If reports are to be believed producer Shabina Khan had a fallout with Akshay Kumar who’s also co-producing the film. Tusshar Kapoor, one of the producers of the film, was stuck between the frenemies. However, both of them are trying to bury the hatchet for the sake of the film’s release. Tusshar Kapoor along with the entire team have requested Akshay Kumar to take a small cut. In this way, it will help all the producers of the film, in order to make a profit on the digital release. Also, a major compromise won’t have to be borne by anyone on the revenue and no one would run into any losses.
Everybody awaits Akshay’s nod, and then there will be a final announcement whether or not the film will actually hit Hotstar during this lockdown, or will it be releasing in theatres first and then later on Hotstar. Stay hooked onto Bollywood Bubble for more such interesting stories.
