Akshay Kumar-Rashid Siddiqui Legal Battle: YouTuber refuses to pay Rs 500 crore in the defamation case

Recently, Akshay Kumar served a defamation notice to YouTuber Rashid Siddiqui, who alleged that the actor helped Rhea Chakraborty in escaping to Canada after Sushant Singh Rajput’s death. Akshay filed a 500 crore defamation suit against the YouTuber for making ‘false allegations’ against him. According to a report in PTI, Rashid has now refused to pay Rs 500 crore. He also asked Akshay to withdraw the defamation notice or else he would take ‘legal action’ against him.

Siddiqui has sent his reply through his advocate J P Jayswal on Friday, where he said the allegations made by Akshay Kumar were “false, vexatious and oppressive and is raised with an intent to harass him”. The reply also stated that every Indian citizen has the fundamental right to freedom of speech.

The reply said, “The damages of Rs 500 crore are absurd and unwarranted and are made with the intent to pressurise Siddiqui.”

He further claimed that Akshay Kumar was selectively targeting him.

“Akshay Kumar faced severe backlash after interviewing an influential politician, whereby thousands of people have made personal remarks against him on various YouTube videos and websites. Surprisingly, Kumar has not taken any action on the same, however, he has selectively chosen Siddiqui to saddle the blame of defamation,” the reply further said.

Siddiqui had also made claims that Akshay was unhappy when Sushant got ‘M.S. Dhoni’ and was also having secret meetings with Mumbai Police and Aaditya Thackeray about the actor’s death.
