After Aamir Khan, who took a step to quit a big project because of the involvement of director Subhash Kapoor, who was accused of sexual misconduct by Geetika Tyagi; actor Akshay Kumar too has now taken a huge step in support of the #MeToo movement.
The actor has asked director Sajid Khan to leave his next film, ‘Housefull 4’ as a director. It was recently that a few women came out in open about how Sajid made them uncomfortable on the sets or off sets of his films, due to his unethical antics. Owing to this, a source close to Bollyoodlife reveals that Sajid has now been asked to step down as the director of ‘Housefull 4’. The decision was taken by producer Sajid Nadiadwala and Akshay Kumar in the interest of the film.
As soon as stories of harassment by Sajid Khan were out, Akshay’s wife Twinkle took to Twitter and wrote, “Appalled hearing multiple incidents of harassment and it is truly horrific to hear what these women have been through. Everyone involved in Housefull needs to take a firm stance on this issue. This cannot go on.”

Sajid too had a meeting with Nadiadwala and Akshay and agreed to step down himself. A source reveals, “ ‘Housefull 4’ is a big film and a franchise that is very dear to Sajid Nadiadwala. He didn’t want to hamper it or tarnish it by anyway. Both he and Akshay didn’t want to trivialise the ongoing debate and push it under the carpet. Hence the decision was taken that Sajid will be asked to leave the film.”
Announcing his decision to stall the shoot of ‘Housefull 4’ Akshay Kumar took to Twitter and wrote, “I will not work with any proven offenders and all those who have been subjugated to harassment”

Akshay who has till now, been mum about the whole movement, seems to have waited for the right moment to do the right thing.
